The Divine Light is revealed, and in that Light, they achieve realization; the self-willed manmukhs wander in doubt and confusion.
ਨਾਨਕ ਭੋਰੁ ਭਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਜਾਗਤ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ॥੨॥
naanak bhor bha-i-aa man maani-aa jaagat rain vihaanee. ||2||
O Nanak, when the dawn breaks, their minds are satisfied; they pass their life-night awake and aware. ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
In plain words
Some hearts stay awake — and their need to prove themselves melts away.
For them it is always dawn, even at midnight, because they rest in the True One.
The teacher pours a sweet nectar into them: the True Name, and their love holds fast to the One.
A light comes on inside, and in that light they see clearly. A mind that chases only itself keeps wandering, unsure — but a heart that is awake passes the whole night of life in peace.
For an awake heart, it is always dawn, even in the middle of the night.
The deeper layer
Gurmukh = one turned toward the teaching; manmukh = a mind turned only on itself. For the awake heart it is always dawn. The “Ambrosial Nectar of the True Name” is the sweetness of keeping the One in mind.
