O my Lord and Master, You are Inaccessible and Unfathomable. You are totally pervading and permeating each and every heart.

You are Unseen, Unknowable and Unfathomable; You are found through the Word of the Guru, the True Guru.

Blessed, blessed are those humble, powerful and perfect people, who join the Guru's Sangat, the Society of the Saints, and chant His Glorious Praises.

With clear and precise understanding, the Gurmukhs contemplate the Guru's Shabad; each and every instant, they continually speak of the Lord.

When the Gurmukh sits down, he chants the Lord's Name. When the Gurmukh stands up, he chants the Lord's Name, Har, Har.

O my Lord and Master, You are Inaccessible and Unfathomable. You are totally pervading and permeating each and every heart. ||2||

# Raag Tukhaari, Shabad 8 — You Fill Every Single Heart

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You are so deep I cannot reach the bottom, and yet You fill every single heart, including mine.

No eyes can see You and no mind can pin You down, but the Guru's Word reveals You.

Lucky, truly lucky, are the people who gather in good company and sing about the One together.

With a clear, wise mind they turn to the One in every passing moment.

Sitting down or standing up, whatever they are doing, the Name is on their lips.

Deep beyond reach, and still filling every heart: that is who You are.

The One no eye can see is quietly filling every heart, all the time.
The deeper layer

Ghat ghat poor rahiaa means "filling each and every heart" — the same One who is beyond reach is also nearer than near, inside everyone. Alakh abheo agamm piles up words for the unseeable and unknowable, all of which are opened by the Guru's Word. Bibek budh is the clear, discerning mind of the Gurmukh (one turned toward the teaching). The picture of remembering "sitting or standing," in every posture and moment, is simran, the loving practice of keeping the One in awareness, framed here as something that fills an ordinary day with light.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you remember something good even in the middle of a busy day?
