Peace Comes When You Stop Straining and Let Things Be

ਤਉ ਭਾਣਾ ਤਾਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥

When it pleases You, then I am satisfied and satiated.

man thee-aa thandhaa sabh tarisan bujhaa-ay raam.
My mind is soothed and calmed, and all my thirst is quenched.

man thee-aa thandhaa chookee danjhaa paa-i-aa bahut khajaanaa.
My mind is soothed and calmed, the burning has ceased, and I have found so many treasures.

All the Sikhs and servants partake of them; I am a sacrifice to my True Guru.

I have become fearless, imbued with the Love of my Lord Master, and I have shaken off the fear of death.

Slave Nanak, Your humble servant, lovingly embraces Your meditation; O Lord, be with me always. ||3||

In plain words

When I stopped straining and simply let things be, I felt full and satisfied.

My mind grew calm, the restless burning cooled, and I found treasures inside.

And I became unafraid, warmed all through by love.

Peace often comes when you stop straining and simply let things be — the restless burning cools right down.
The deeper layer

"When it pleases You, then I am satisfied." Peace comes not by grabbing but by letting be — trusting (bhaanaa, the Will). "My mind is soothed, the burning ceased, I found many treasures... I have become fearless." The inner fire of craving cools into calm. For a child: peace often comes when you stop straining and let things be — the restless burning cools right down.

A Question to Sit With

When has letting go, instead of forcing, actually brought you peace?
