The body is blind, totally blind and desolate, without the Naam.

O Nanak, fruitful is the life of that being, within whose heart the True Lord and Master abides. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

A life with no goodness in it feels empty and a little lost.

But a heart where what's true lives is a full and fruitful life.

A life with goodness living in your heart is a full and fruitful one.
The deeper layer

The third Shalok turns to the heart: "the body is blind and desolate without the Name... fruitful is the life of that being within whose heart the True Lord abides." A life empty of goodness feels lost; a heart where truth lives is full. The qMonk voice softens "blind" to "empty and a little lost." For a child: a life with goodness living in your heart is a full and fruitful one.

A Question to Sit With

What makes a life feel full rather than empty, do you think?
