Verse 5 of 5

The One Belongs to Everyone; the Invitation Never Closes

The One Lord and Master is the Husband Lord of all; His Praises cannot be expressed.
naanak aapay vayk keeti-an naamay la-i-an laa-ay. ||4||4||
O Nanak, He has separated some from Himself, while others are to His Name. ||4||4||

In plain words

The One belongs to everyone equally — more wonderful than any words can hold.

Some feel far, some feel near — and the invitation to come close is always open.

The One belongs to everyone — and the invitation to come close never closes.
The deeper layer

The shabad closes: "the One Master is the Husband Lord of all; His Praises cannot be expressed." The One belongs to everyone — no exclusive claim. The line "He has separated some... others are attached to His Name" is not fatalism but describes the two states (feeling far / turning near), with the door — as the whole raag insists — always open. For a child: the One is for everyone, and the invitation to come close never closes.

A Question to Sit With

How does it feel to know that closeness to what's good is open to absolutely everyone?
