Your body is made of the five elements; you are clever and wise, so know this well.
Nanak says: believe it, you will merge again into the One you came from.
Your body is made of the same stuff as the whole world, and you belong to the One.
paach tat ko tan rachi-o — the body is made of five elements. People named them earth, water, fire, air, and sky. The Guru calls us chatur sujaan, clever and wise, and invites us to see this for ourselves.
jih tay upji-o — from the One you came. leen taahi — into the One you will merge again. Think of a drop of rain falling into the ocean. It is not lost. It goes home.
So the end of a life is not a wall. It is a homecoming, the drop finding the ocean again. That is a gentle comfort, and a wonder to think about.
