Verse 2 of 74

Wandering Is Not the Way

ਕਿਆ ਭਵੀਐ ਸਚਿ ਸੂਚਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
ki-aa bhavee-ai sach soochaa ho-ay.
What is the use of wandering around? Purity comes only through Truth.
ਸਾਚ ਸਬਦ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saach sabad bin mukat na ko-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Without the True Word of the Shabad, no one finds liberation. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Why wander from place to place? You become clean only through Truth.

Without the true Word, no one is set free.

You become clean inside through Truth, not through the road you travel.
The deeper layer

You become clean inside through Truth, not through a change of place. Ki-aa bhavee-ai means "why wander?": pilgrimages and restless travel do not wash the heart. Purity comes through saach (truth) and the saach sabad (the true Word).

These two lines are the rahaa-o, the pause, the centre the whole Sidh Gosht turns around. Every question the Siddhas ask comes back to them.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever hoped a change of place would fix something only you could change?
