Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Out of the One beyond sight came the pure form; the One without form took on form.
Pleasing the True Guru, you reach the highest place and merge into the true Word.
Such a person knows the True One as one alone, and sends ego and the sense of "two" far away.
That one alone is a yogi, who understands the Guru's Word; the lotus of the heart opens inside.
Whoever lets the small self die while still alive understands everything, and knows deep inside the One who is kind to all.
Nanak says: such a person is given greatness, and sees their own self in every being.
The One without form became the whole world of forms. Nirgun tay sargun means from formless to formed. Jeevat marai, dying while alive, means the small, proud self letting go while you go on living fully. Then comes the deepest seeing of all: finding yourself in every living being (aap pachhaanai sarab jee-aa).
Can you find something of yourself in someone very different from you?
