Call everyone exalted — no one seems lowly.
The One Lord has fashioned all the vessels. His One Light pervades the three worlds.
Receiving His Grace, we obtain Truth. No one can erase His Primal Blessing.
Guru Nanak says to call everyone high and good, because the same One Light is in every person.
Sabh ko oochaa aakhee-ai neech na deesai ko-ay means call everyone high; no one looks low. This grows out of the last verse about truthful living. A person who lives truthfully sees clearly. And what they see is that everyone carries the same light. The idea of higher and lower people falls apart, because you can see it for yourself.
Iknai bhaanday saaji-ai means the One made all the vessels. Ik chaanan tihu lo-ay means one light shines through all three worlds. Bhaanday means pots or vessels. Every person, every creature, is a vessel with the same One Light shining through it. This equality is not just a nice hope. It is simply how things really are.
Think of many lamps in a house, all different shapes, all lit by the same electricity.
Karam milai sach paa-ee-ai means through grace we find Truth. Dhur bakhas na maytai ko-ay means no one can erase the One's first blessing. The light the One gave to every vessel is lasting. No ranking of people, no judgment, can undo what the One has made. In Guru Nanak's time, many people were told they were high or low because of the family they were born into. This verse answered that: call everyone high, because the One Light is in all.
When have you looked at someone and genuinely seen them as exalted — and what made that possible in that moment?
