In plain words

When one holy person meets another holy person, they rest in contentment — through their shared love of the Guru.

They contemplate the Unspoken Speech together — merging in absorption in the True Guru.

Drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar, they are satisfied. They go before the Lord wearing robes of honor.

When the holy meet the holy, the Unspoken Speech vibrates between them — and they drink the Nectar together.
The deeper layer

Guru Nanak says that when good, holy people meet, something special happens between them. They grow content together in the Guru's love.

Saadh milai saadhoo janai means when one holy person meets another. Santokh vasai gur bhaa-ay means contentment settles in, through love for the Guru. This is the sat sangat, the gathering of good people. When people facing the same truth come together, they help each other feel settled. Not by entertaining each other. Just by being together in the Guru's love.

Akath kathaa veechaaree-ai means they think about the story that cannot be told in words. Akath means beyond speaking. It is there all the time, but an ordinary busy mind does not notice it. Together, good people can tune in to what they could not catch alone. That is what good company gives. Not long lectures, which an earlier hymn warned about, but quietly sharing the wordless truth.

Think of sitting with a close friend watching the sunset. Nobody talks, but you both feel it.

Pee amrit santokhi-aa means drinking nectar, they are content. Amrit here is not a drink. It is the joy of being soaked in the Guru's love. Dargahi paidhaa jaa-ay means they go to the One's Court dressed in honor. Not because they earned it, but because the Name dressed them.

A Question to Sit With

Who in your life helps you feel more connected to what matters most — and how do they do that without necessarily saying anything?
