In plain words

The Gurmukhs serve their True Lord and Master, who comes to dwell within the mind.

They are forever attuned to the Love of the True One.

The True One bestows His Mercy and unites them with Himself.

Gurmukhs serve the True Lord who dwells within the mind — and forever attuned to His Love, He bestows Grace and unites them with Himself.
The deeper layer

This one says that when we serve the One, the One comes to live in our heart, and brings us close.

Sachaa saahib sayvee-ai: "Serve the True Master." Gurmukh vasai man aa-ay: "for the Gurmukh, the One comes and lives in the mind."

Notice who does what. The Gurmukh serves. But the One is the one who comes to live inside. Our service opens the door. The One's coming is a gift, not a prize we earned.

Sadaa rang raatay sach si-o: "forever colored with love for the True One." Their love is real. It's not a show put on for others. It's like the love you have for your family: honest, not for a grade.

Apunee kirpaa karay milaa-ay: "the One shows kindness and unites them." Kirpaa means grace, kindness freely given.

Think of a parent who opens their arms, and a child runs in. The child runs, but the hug is the parent's gift. In the same way, the union is the One's doing. We don't grab it. We are held.

A Question to Sit With

What is the difference between love that is performed — shown to look a certain way — and love that is genuine? How do you know which one you are offering?
