You created the world, and assigned tasks to one and all.
You watch over Your Creation — and through Your all-powerful creative potency, You cast the dice.
Aap-ay jag-u upaa-i-aa, Aap dhann-dhai laai-aa — You Yourself (Aap-ay) created the universe (jag-u upaa-i-aa); You Yourself assigned occupations (dhann-dhai laai-aa — put into businesses and trades, assigned roles and tasks) to all. The universe is not a mechanical process — it is the divine actively creating and assigning. Every person's situation — their birth, their work, their condition — is something the Lord has placed them in. Not as punishment or reward, but as assignment: you, here, this task.
Aap aachar kar-ay, aap bhal-ee bhaat-ee — You Yourself conduct (aachar kar-ay — act out, conduct) the play; You Yourself have arranged it all well (bhal-ee bhaat-ee — beautifully, in good order). The universe as the Lord's own play — not careless but bhal-ee bhaat-ee, beautiful and well-arranged.
Paasiaa dhaaliaa — You cast the dice (paasiaa dhaaliaa — threw the dice, rolled them). The gambling metaphor: the world is a game in which the dice are thrown by the divine. Not the mechanical universe of fixed laws alone, but a game with throws — unpredictability that is held within the divine's hand. The dice appear random; they are thrown by the Lord.
If every person's role and situation has been assigned by the divine, how does that change how you see the people around you — including people whose lives look very different from yours?
