By Guru's Grace, I have found God.
By His Grace, I have shed emotional attachment to Maya.
Showering His Mercy — He has blended me into Himself.
Gur-parsaad-i, Prabh-u paa-i-aa — by Guru's Grace (gur-parsaad-i — Gurprasad, the grace of the Guru), God is obtained. The single sentence that summarizes the path. Not: by effort, by practice, by religious observance, by virtue. Gur-parsaad-i — Guru's Grace. The grace of the Guru (which is itself the divine's grace operating through the Guru) is what produces the finding.
Moh-u taji-aa, maya jandaa-lee — emotional attachment (moh-u) is shed (taji-aa — given up, relinquished); the entanglement of Maya (maya jandaa-lee — Maya's chains, Maya's snare) is released. What the Guru's Grace does: it releases the attachment that Maya creates. Not by willpower, not by austerity — gur-parsaad-i. The grace that dissolves the attachment.
Kirpaa dhar-ee, aap-ai mil-aa-i-aa — showering His Mercy (kirpaa dhar-ee — Mercy applied, Mercy given), He Himself blended me into Himself (aap-ai mil-aa-i-aa — Himself caused me to merge). The merger language of jot milai jot samaaee: the individual light merged into the divine Light. By His Mercy. By His own action. Aap-ai — Himself, not the practitioner. The merger is what He does, not what the practitioner achieves.
What is something you were attached to — anxiously, demandingly — that at some point simply fell away without your forcing it? What loosened it?
