Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Whoever walks in harmony with the Will of the True Guru receives the greatest glory.
The exalted Name abides in the mind — and no one can take it away.
The one upon whom the Lord bestows His Grace receives His Mercy.
Nanak says: creativity is under the control of the Creator. How rare are those who, as Gurmukh, truly realize this.
"The greatest glory"
Je guru nāl chalai soi vaddi'ā'i — "One who walks in harmony with the Will of the True Guru, obtains the greatest glory." Walking in harmony with the True Guru is walking in alignment — not just obeying externally but having the interior orientation that makes harmony natural. Vaddi'ā'i (greatness, glory, honor) is the result. Not fame or social recognition, but the genuine greatness of a soul that has found its right orientation.
"No one can take it away"
Jinh kar nāmu visari'ā, tis nāl pā'ie na jā'ie — "The Exalted Name of the Lord abides in his mind, and no one can take it away." The Naam, once genuinely established, is theft-proof. No circumstance, no enemy, no reversal of fortune can take it away. This is the ultimate security — not the security of accumulated goods or protected position, but the security of what is inside and cannot be extracted.
"Creativity is under the control of the Creator"
Nānak, kartā āp karā'ie, virle Gurmukh janam — "O Nanak, creativity is under the control of the Creator; how rare are those who, as Gurmukh, realize this." Kartā (Creator) controls kirtā (creativity/creation). All creative capacity originates in the divine. The Gurmukh who realizes this does not claim creative power for themselves. They are instruments of the Creator's creativity.
*What does it feel like when something creative flows through you almost without effort — when the work seems to do itself? What are the conditions that allow that?*
