In plain words

Those who worship the Lord night and day vibrate the String of the Lord's Love — everything is strung on that string.

Maya — the world's great illusion — serves them. Instead of entangling them, it serves them.

The Perfect One made them perfect. By His Command, they shine.

By Guru's Grace, they find the gate of salvation.

The manmukhs don't know the Lord's Command and are beaten by the Messenger of Death. But Gurmukhs cross the terrifying world-ocean.

All their demerits are erased and replaced with merits. The Guru Himself is their Forgiver.

The Gurmukh who worships night and day finds that Maya serves them — the world's illusory power reverses direction.
The deeper layer

Maya as servant of the Gurmukh

Māyā tis kī dāsī, jo Har ke dās — "Maya, the maid-servant of our Lord and Master, serves them." This is one of the most radical reversals in the Vaar. Maya — the power that entangles, the illusion that enslaves, the force that has been described throughout Siree Raag as the cause of suffering — serves the Gurmukh.

The one who has genuinely turned to the Lord is not subject to Maya's pull in the ordinary way. The world still exists. The Gurmukh lives in it. But Maya's function shifts: instead of entangling, it serves. The wealth of the world becomes available to the Gurmukh without creating attachment; the relationships of the world deepen without creating bondage; the beauties of creation are enjoyed without creating craving.

"Vibrating the String of the Lord's Love"

Har prem lag tār — "they vibrate the String of the Lord's Love." Creation is held together by the Lord's love as a string holds beads. The Gurmukh, attuned to the divine, vibrates this string. Their life becomes a resonance with the underlying love that holds everything together.

The Guru as Forgiver

Sab avgun metay, gun kī'e, āp maph karā'e — "all their demerits are erased, and replaced with merits. The Guru Himself is their Forgiver." The transformation is not earned — it is forgiven. The Guru's forgiveness is not the dismissal of the past but its transformation: demerits (the actual negative consequences of past actions) are not merely overlooked; they are replaced with merits. The past is redeemed.

A Question to Sit With

*Can you think of something that used to have a hold on you that no longer does — not because you suppressed it but because you grew past it? What happened?*
