Through the Guru's Word, you shall come to know the Lord God. From the Lord God, everything was created. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Meditate on the Lord — the True Lord God.

Through the Guru's Word, you come to know the Lord. And from that Lord — everything was created.

Through the Guru's Word you come to know the Lord — who turns out to be the source of everything.
The deeper layer

The Lord as both destination and origin

The fifth refrain adds a dimension to the meditation instruction: the Lord you are meditating on is also the one from whom everything was created. This is not two separate facts. It is one: the ground of being and the object of meditation are identical.

Har har jāni'ai, har sāhi'b sabh kichhu siri'ā — "through the Guru's Word, come to know the Lord; from the Lord God, everything was created." The Guru's Word is the means of knowing. What is known turns out to be the source of all that exists.

This has a practical implication: the Lord is not foreign or alien. He is the substance from which you, the seeker, were also made. Meditation on the Lord is, in this sense, the mind returning to recognize the ground it has always been standing on.

A Question to Sit With

*If the thing you were looking for was actually what you were made of — what would that change about how you look?*
