In plain words

O brothers and sisters, the diamond of the Lord is within the teaching.

The True Teacher is found in the true community. Day and night, live in praise of the word.

The most precious thing is inside the teaching — and the teaching is already available to you.
The deeper layer

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line. It is the center of the shabad.

Bhaa-ee ray har heeraa gur maahi: "O brothers and sisters, the diamond of the One is within the Guru." The diamond is the One. And we find it through the Guru — not by going around the Guru, and not in spite of the Guru.

Where do we meet the True Guru? Satsangat satgur paa-ee-ai: in the satsangat, the true company of people who love the One. That is why this company is where real seeking happens. It's where people praise and remember the One together. Ahinis sabad salaahi: day and night, praise the Shabad, the Guru's Word.

Think of a jewel kept in a school's treasure room. You don't break in through a window. You go with your class, the door is opened, and together you see it shine.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever found something valuable inside a teaching or a book that you weren't expecting? What was it?
