O Nanak, know this: the one who sleeps in her parents' home — who refuses to make the journey, who clings to the familiar — is plundered in broad daylight.
She has lost her bouquet of merits and gathered one of faults. And she departs with that.
The comfort of staying exactly where you are is the most dangerous comfort there is.
The closing pauri is strong: the soul-bride who refuses the journey is luttee — plundered, robbed — in broad daylight. Not secretly, not at night, but openly. The comfortable choice, the choice to stay as you are, leads to the gradual loss of everything that was genuinely valuable.
"A bouquet of demerits" (avgan kaathnaa) — this is what accumulates when we choose comfort over growth, familiarity over transformation. Not dramatically, but steadily, day by day.
Is there a change you know you need to make but keep postponing because the current situation is comfortable enough? What would it cost you to wait longer?
