The wall of the body does not last. And neither does the soul-mason inside it.
The flavor of the intellect is bland without the salt of the Name.
O Nanak: as he wills, he makes things right. Without the Name, no one is approved.
This verse says our body is like a wall that won't stand forever, and life without the Name is like food without salt.
Kachee kanDh kachaa vich raaj — the wall is kachee, weak and unfired, like a mud wall. And the raaj, the mason working inside it, is not lasting either. The body is the wall. The self is the mason. We are all building something in this short time. The question is: what are we building?
Think of building a sandcastle at the beach. It is fun and it matters while you are building. But the tide will come. So what do you take home with you? The fun, the friends, the memory. Those are what really last.
Mat aloonee fikaa saad — a mind without salt tastes fikaa, flat and dull. The salt is the Name. A clever mind can work and think. But without the Name, it is like pasta with no salt at all. It fills you up, but there is no flavor and it doesn't truly feed you.
Naanak aanay aavai raas — Nanak says the One sets things right as He wills. Vin naavai naahee saabaas — without the Name, no one is approved.
What makes your thinking feel alive and meaningful rather than just mechanical? What ingredient does it need?
