As our Lord and Master keeps us, so do we exist. The soul of this greedy person is tossed this way and that. ||1||

In plain words

The Undeceiveable cannot be deceived — not by any trick, not by any dagger.

As the Lord and Master keeps us, so do we exist. The greedy soul is tossed this way and that.

You cannot fool what knows everything. The only path that actually works is honest alignment.

The only approach that works with the all-seeing is complete honesty.
The deeper layer

Shabad 32 is in the Fifth House — the final musical mode in this section of Siree Raag. The shabad opens with a clear statement about divine omniscience: asthir (unwavering, undeceiveable). No trick reaches it.

"Tossed this way and that" — the greedy soul (lobhee jeev) is ulat pultah — turned upside down, unstable, moved by every wind. This is the condition of those who try to gain an advantage through deception in a universe where deception is seen.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever tried to manage an impression — of yourself, of a situation — in a way that you knew wasn't quite accurate? How did that feel?
