Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the mind is conquered, and one attains the State of Liberation in one's own home.

So meditate on the Name of the Lord; join and merge with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. ||2||

In plain words

Through the Word of the Guru's teaching, the mind is conquered — and the state of liberation is found in your own home.

Meditate on the Name of the Lord. Join the true congregation and merge with it.

Liberation is not a destination — it is a recognition available where you already are.
The deeper layer

This one says freedom is found where you already are.

Gat mukat gharai meh paa-ay: "you find freedom in your own home." Freedom here means mukat, being set free from the things that trap the mind. The ghar, or home, means your house and also the home inside your heart. You do not need to travel anywhere to find it.

How does it happen? Gur kai sabad man jeeti-aa: "through the Guru's Word, the mind is won over." It is like a coach helping you calm your nerves before a match. The strength was in you all along.

Then comes one thing outside yourself that Guru Amar Das often talks about: the satsangat, the true gathering. It means good company, people who try to live truly together. It is not about a building. It is about the friends who help you keep the One in mind.

A Question to Sit With

What does 'home' feel like, at its best — not a building, but a feeling? Where or with whom do you feel most at home?
