In plain words

You may enjoy the pleasures of hundreds of thousands of women. You may rule the nine continents of the world.

But without the True Teacher, you will not find peace. You will be reincarnated — born, dying, born again — over and over.

No amount of 'more' resolves the fundamental restlessness — only what the restlessness is pointing toward does.
The deeper layer

This one says that even having everything in the world would not be enough.

The Guru uses a huge picture on purpose. Imagine having every pleasure you could want and ruling all nav khand, the "nine continents," the whole world. That is as big as having things can get.

Why go so big? Because many of us think, "If I just had a little more, I would be happy." Think of a phone game where you always want the next level, the next skin, the next prize. The Guru takes that idea as far as it can go and says it still does not work.

Bin satgur sukh na paav-ee: "without the True Guru, you will not find peace." The restless feeling inside does not go away by adding more stuff. More of the same is not the answer. Peace comes from the Guru's teaching and from keeping the One in mind.

A Question to Sit With

Is there something you tell yourself 'when I have enough of this, I'll feel settled'? How long have you been saying that?
