Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The Name of the Lord is the Ocean of Peace. The Gurmukhs obtain it.
Meditating on the Name, night and day, they are easily and intuitively absorbed in it.
Their inner beings are immersed in the True Lord. They sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
This line says: the Lord's Name is a whole ocean of peace, and those who follow the Guru find it.
Sukh saagar har naam hai: the Lord's Name is a sukh saagar, an ocean of peace. Notice the size of that picture. Peace here is not a small quiet room or a little pond. It is an ocean, wide and deep. You don't stand next to it. You are swimming in it.
Gurmukh paa-i-aa jaa-ay: the Gurmukh finds it. A Gurmukh is someone who faces the Guru and follows the Guru's way.
An-din naam dhi-aa-ee-ai: remember the Naam, the Name, an-din, every day and night. Sehjay naam samaa-ay: then you slip into the Name sehjay, easily and naturally. Sahaj is a calm, easy peace that comes without forcing.
Earlier songs spoke about effort and practice. This one shows the fruit: being held without straining. Think of learning to float. At first you kick and splash. Then you relax, and the water holds you up.
Andar rachai har sach si-o: deep inside, they are soaked in the True Lord. Rasnaa har gun gaa-ay: and their tongue sings His praises.
When do you feel most genuinely peaceful — not just calm, but deeply at rest? What creates that?
