Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
One whose mind and body are imbued with the Lord's Love gives up egotism and corruption.
Day and night, the Name of the One Lord — the Fearless and Formless One — dwells within the heart.
O Nanak, He blends us with Himself, through the Perfect, Infinite Word of His Shabad.
This one says that when love fills you, pride just lets go.
Man tan rataa rang si-o — mind and body dyed in the Lord's love. Then ha-umai taj vikaar: pride and wrong ways are given up. Haumai is the ego, the me-first feeling. It isn't pushed out by force. It is given up. When the heart is full of real love, pride has nothing to hold on to. It's like ice in warm hands. You don't fight it; it melts.
Nirbha-o naam nirankaar — the Name of the Fearless One, the Formless One. These words come from the Mool Mantar, the opening lines of the Guru Granth Sahib. The One who lives in the heart day and night is the same One named in those very first words.
Nanak says He joins us to Himself through His perfect, endless Word.
What do you love so much that, when you're genuinely in it, your ego and self-consciousness disappear? What does that state feel like?
