Sikhism·Siree Raag·Shabad 49
Verse 3 of 5

Those Who Taste It Continue to Enjoy the Taste

jinee chaakhi-aa tinee saad paa-i-aa bin chaakhay bharam bhulaa-ay.
Those who have tasted it, enjoy its flavor; without tasting it, they wander in doubt, lost and deceived.
The True Name is the Ambrosial Nectar; no one can describe it.
peevat hoo parvaan bha-i-aa poorai sabad samaa-ay. ||2||
Drinking it in, one becomes honorable, absorbed in the Perfect Word of the Shabad. ||2||

In plain words

Those who taste the Sublime Essence of the Lord enjoy the taste — and continue to taste it.

They are absorbed in the True One, True and True forever. Tasting the Essence, they remain in ecstasy.

There is no diminishing return in this. The more you taste, the more there is to taste.

The Sublime Essence doesn't diminish with tasting — the more you taste, the deeper it goes.
The deeper layer

The ras (sublime essence, taste) that never ends: chakh chakh rehai — they taste and taste and remain in it. The conventional pleasures of the world follow a diminishing returns curve: the first time is the most intense, and each subsequent time requires more for less.

The divine Essence is the opposite: the more it is tasted, the deeper the enjoyment becomes. This is not addiction — addiction produces desperate craving for a diminishing return. This is absorption: the absorption deepens without ceiling.

A Question to Sit With

What in your life has gotten better the more you engaged with it — not just familiar, but genuinely deeper and richer over time? What makes something like that?
