Listen, O my mind: hurry to the safety of the Guru's shelter.
By the Guru's grace you will be saved. Through the Guru's Word, you will cross the frightening world-ocean of poison.
This one says: hurry to the Guru's shelter, because the Word carries you across.
This is the Rahao, the "pause" line. It is the center of the shabad.
Sun man mayray bhaj satgur sarnaa — listen, my mind, run to the True Guru's shelter. This isn't slow, someday advice. It's urgent. The world is like an ocean full of poison, bikh bhavjal, and we are trying to cross it.
The hurry isn't cheap fear. It is the hurry of someone who sees things clearly. Time is short, the danger is real, and the shelter is open right now.
Think of rain starting to pour. You don't stand and think it over. You run for the porch.
Gur parsaadee chhutee-ai — by the Guru's grace we are set free. Sabad gur tarnaa — the Guru's Word is the boat that takes us across.
Is there something you know would genuinely help you that you've been approaching slowly, casually, as if you have all the time in the world? What would it look like to take it seriously?
