Through the Shabad, Liberation Comes

Those who praise the True One are true; the True Name is their Support.

They act truthfully, in love with the True Lord.

The True King has written His Order, which no one can erase.

The self-willed manmukhs do not obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. The false are plundered by falsehood. ||2||

In plain words

Through the Guru's teaching, those who contemplate the Shabad are liberated.

Those who chant the Naam obtain the Most Excellent State. They practice good deeds and contemplate the virtues of the Lord.

Knowledge without action and action without knowledge are both incomplete. The Shabad provides both.

Liberation is integrated — it requires inner contemplation and outer action, not one without the other.
The deeper layer

Liberation through the Shabad (mukti) — and the path to it involves jap (chanting the Naam), karam (good deeds), and guna vichar (contemplation of virtues). This is Guru Amar Das's integrated path: it is not only inner but also expressed outward in how one lives.

Uttam padam (Most Excellent State) — the turiya state, the fourth state beyond the three qualities. It is reached through the combination of contemplation, action, and chanting.

A Question to Sit With

Is there a gap between what you value and how you actually live? Not with judgment — honestly. Where is the gap biggest, and what would closing it look like?
