In plain words

The Shabad — the Word of the teaching — is the Nectar. Drinking it in, the thirst is quenched.

Meditating on the Name of the Lord, one is liberated — and liberated, one liberates others.

The Shabad quenches what nothing else reaches. When you've found the real drink, you know you've found it.

When the real thirst is quenched, the one who has drunk becomes a source of water for others.
The deeper layer

The amrit (nectar/ambrosial water) that the Shabad provides quenches the trisha (thirst) that nothing else can satisfy. The sequence: drink the Shabad → thirst quenched → liberation → liberation of others.

The ripple continues: not just personal liberation but the liberation of others. The Gurmukh who has found liberation becomes a source of it for those around them. This is Guru Amar Das's consistent social teaching: genuine realization cannot be contained.

A Question to Sit With

Has a book, a teacher, a practice, or an experience ever quenched something in you that you'd been thirsty for? What was it, and how did it change you?
