In ego, everyone has to give an account of what they did. In that counting, there is no peace.
Doing wrong, people sink deeper into wrong.
Without the Name, they find no place to rest. In the City of Death, they suffer great pain.
This one says that when we act from pride, we have to answer for all of it, and that brings no peace.
Ha-umai sabhaa ganat hai — in ego, everything is counted. Ego is the me-first feeling. This isn't the One handing out punishments. It's what naturally follows. If you act as if you alone are the doer, you own every result of that claim.
Think of a group project. If you insist it was all your idea, then every mistake in it is yours too.
Bikh kee kaar kamaavanee bikh hee maahi samaahi — doing poison work, people sink into the poison. Wrong doing pulls you deeper into more of the same.
The Gurmukh lives by Hukam, the One's Will. They don't claim to be the only doer, so they have no separate bill to settle. Without the Name, there is no place to rest. In the City of Death, the place where life ends, there is only pain.
Are there things you've done that you've tried to avoid taking responsibility for? What would it feel like to genuinely own them — not to punish yourself, but to fully acknowledge them?
