Other Rides Are False

ਬਾਬਾ ਹੋਰੁ ਚੜਣਾ ਖੁਸੀ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥

O Baba, the pleasures of other rides are false.

By such rides, the body is ruined, and wickedness and corruption enter into the mind. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

The pleasures of other rides — the status symbols, the positions that elevate you above others, the ways of traveling that say 'I am important' — are false.

They harm the body. They let in corruption.

The only ride that takes you somewhere real is moving through life in alignment with the truth.

How you travel through life matters more than what carries you — and the best vehicle is truth.
The deeper layer

Third rahao. In Guru Nanak's time, how you traveled — on foot, on horseback, on elephant — was a direct indicator of social rank. The instruction here follows the pattern: the false ride (ego, status, power) corrupts. The genuine vehicle is inner alignment.

A Question to Sit With

Do you ever find yourself doing things just to look more important or capable than you feel? What drives that?
