In plain words

Imagine: a body like saffron — glowing with warmth. A tongue that is a jewel — precious, chosen carefully. Breath as pure fragrance.

What if your whole body were a sacred place? What if every word you spoke were chosen like a gemstone? What if even your breathing were an offering?

That is what the Name does to those who live inside it.

When the Name lives in you, your whole body becomes a sacred place — no pilgrimage required.
The deeper layer

This pauri introduces a new voice and imagery — saffron body, jeweled tongue, fragrant breath. These are sensory metaphors for a life saturated in the divine.

The sixty-eight holy places of pilgrimage (athasath teerath) were the traditional sacred sites of Hindu religious practice — and Guru Nanak says: the face of the one anointed with the Name is holier than all sixty-eight. The pilgrimages can be made without leaving your own home.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever been somewhere 'sacred' — a temple, a forest, a meaningful place — and felt it? What created that feeling? Could it happen anywhere?
