In plain words

O Baba, the pleasure of other sleep is false.

In that sleep the body is worn down, and wrong thoughts run through the mind.

The deepest rest comes from being fully awake to the oneness, not from hiding from it.
The deeper layer

This one says that the pleasure of the wrong kind of sleep is false.

This is one of the shabad's "pause" lines. A pause line is the center, and this shabad comes back to it again and again, each time with a new pleasure.

Baabaa hor sa-unaa khusee khu-aar — O Baba, the fun of other sleep is false. Sleep here means more than resting in bed. It means choosing to stay unaware, drifting instead of being fully awake to what matters.

Think of scrolling on a phone late into the night. It feels restful, but you wake up more tired. Real rest is different. It is the deep peace of a mind that is awake to the One.

Jit sutai tan peerhee-ai — that kind of sleep wears down the body. And wrong thoughts start running through the mind.

A Question to Sit With

Is there something you've been avoiding thinking about? What would it be like to finally look at it directly?
