Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I am devoted to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. I sacrifice my soul to them.
Through them, understanding has entered my mind, and I have met the All-knowing Lord God.
Nanak sees the Lord always with him — the Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
This one ends the shabad's warnings with good news: in the company of the holy, the One is found.
The shabad has shown a crumbling bank, the reapers, and a night slipping away. Now comes the answer. Saadhsangat ka-o vaari-aa — I give myself to the company of the holy.
Jis tay sojhee man pa-ee — through them, understanding came into my mind. Mili-aa purakh sujaan — I met the All-knowing One.
Har antarjaamee jaan — know the Lord as antarjaamee, the One who knows what's inside every heart. Guru Arjan uses this name for the One often. He already knows everything the crumbling bank and the lost hours hid.
Think of a friend who knows you so well you don't even need to explain. Nanak sees that One always beside him.
Is there something in you — a failure, a regret, a hidden fear — that you feel the divine could not possibly know and still love you? What would it mean if it already does know, and still loves you?
