In plain words

Seeing Him, our evil inclinations vanish. Mind and body become peaceful and tranquil.

With one-pointed mind, meditate on the One Lord, and the doubts of your mind will be dispelled.

He is the Treasure of Excellence, the Ever-fresh Being. His Gift is Perfect and Complete.

Forever and ever, love and praise Him. Day and night, do not forget Him.

The sight of the Lord dissolves evil inclinations — the presence does what effort cannot, and the Beloved is always fresh.
The deeper layer

Guru Arjan says that just seeing the One clears away wrong wishes and brings peace.

Jis paykhat kilvikh hireh means seeing Him, wrong wishes melt away. It is not long years of hard work that does it. The seeing itself does it. That is the gift of being in the One's presence. What effort cannot fix, being near the One can.

Man tan hovai saant means mind and body become peaceful. Ik man ayk dhi-aa-ee-ai means with one focused mind, keep the One in mind, and your doubts clear away.

Gun nidhaan navtan sadaa means the treasure of goodness, always fresh and new. We never get so used to the One that the wonder fades. Every meeting is as fresh as the first. Guru Arjan often describes the One this way.

Think of a favorite song that still gives you goosebumps, no matter how many times you hear it.

Din visrahu nahee raat means day and night, do not forget Him.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever encountered something — a person, a place, music, art — that felt perpetually new, where the wonder didn't diminish with familiarity? What made it like that?
