Those who have served You with love are truly wise.

Those who have the Treasure of the Naam within emancipate others as well as themselves.

There is no other Giver as great as the Guru, who has given the gift of the soul. ||2||

In plain words

Those who served with love are truly wise — they are the eminent ones of the world.

The Lord Himself has carried them across the terrifying world-ocean.

Not clever, not powerful, not accomplished — those who served with love are the truly wise.

Those who served with love are the truly wise — and the Lord Himself carries them across the terrifying ocean.
The deeper layer

The reversal of the world's hierarchy of wisdom: not scholars, not strategists, not the accomplished. Prem bhagat nit Har gavan (those who go to the Lord with loving devotion daily) — these are the sat vadiaa-ee (the truly eminent, the truly wise).

"Carried across the terrifying world-ocean" (bhai samund taar-iaa) — the same ocean-and-crossing metaphor that runs through the Siree Raag section. The crossing is done by the Lord: aap taarai — He Himself crosses them. Not guidance, not a boat. He carries them.

A Question to Sit With

What is the difference between doing something with love and doing the same thing as a duty? Can you feel the difference in yourself when you act from each?
