Into every home, into every heart, that summons is sent out — every single day. The call comes: remember the one who is calling.
O Nanak — that day is drawing closer.
Sohilaa ends with one of the most quietly powerful statements in the GGS. The "summons" — the call of the oneness back to itself — goes to every home, every day. Not only at death. Every morning the call is there: remember. Come back. Return.
"That day is drawing near" — recited every night before sleep — is a gentle daily reminder that time is passing, and the wedding day is coming, and the right response to that is not anxiety but preparation through genuine remembrance.
This is why Sohilaa is the last prayer of the night: send consciousness to sleep with the awareness that the summons has been received, and tomorrow the chance continues.
When you think about the fact that one day this life will end, does it make you want to change how you are living it? If so, what would you change?
