One kind glance from Him, and a great peace settles.
Rare are those who receive the deep taste of the One - but those who taste it are satisfied at last: fulfilled, steady, unshaken.
Filled to overflowing with the sweetness of His love, delight wells up in them, in the company of the good.
They take His shelter and stop shopping elsewhere. Lit from within, they stay centered on Him through the days and nights. Most fortunate are the rememberers - attuned to the Name, they rest.
One real taste of the One ends all the searching.
This verse shows the prayer answered. What the beggar asked for in the last verse, he now receives. The key word is ras, deep taste, sweetness. Har ras paavai birlaa ko-ay — rare is the one who gets this taste of the One. Jin chaakhi-aa say jan tariptaanay — those who taste it are satisfied.
This is the Har Ras teaching at its source. One real taste does what years of reading the menu cannot. Think of reading about mangoes, and then biting into one.
The ones who taste it show the proof Gurbani loves most. Pooran purakh nahee dolaanay — they are complete, and they do not wobble. Steadiness is the fingerprint of the real.
Paray saran aan sabh ti-aag — they take the One's shelter and leave all else. This is not grim giving-up. It is just how being full works. Nobody window-shops on the walk home from a feast.
Where does this delight come from? Where Sukhmani always places it. Upjai chaa-o saadh kai sang — joy wells up in the company of the good. Even this private overflowing has a spring we share.
What is the difference between reading about honey and tasting it? Which of the deepest things have you actually tasted?
