Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
In the eye of the good soul, everything is God. In such a heart, everything is a chance to do right.
Such ears gather goodness from every direction; such a being stays absorbed in the One who fills everything.
This is simply how the knower lives: the words true, and whatever happens - received in peace, because the Doer behind all causes is known and trusted.
Inside, outside - He dwells. And everyone who truly sees such a person is drawn in wonder.
A person who has woken up sees the One in everything. So every moment becomes a chance to do what is right.
Sant janaa kaa paykhan sabh barahm — in the eyes of the saintly, everything is the One. Sant janaa kai hirdai sabh Dharam — in their hearts, everything is Dharam, right living. Put these two lines together. When everything is seen as the One, every situation asks for a good response. Seeing and doing right melt into one. Nothing is just scenery. Everything is speaking to you.
Next comes the ear. Sant janaa suneh subh bachan — the saintly hear words of goodness. Unkind words may still reach them. But goodness is what they gather. Think of a bee in a garden full of weeds and flowers. It still comes home with honey. These are the same ears, used well. Earlier in Sukhmani, the body's parts were put to good work. Here that has become a habit.
Then comes a line to hold onto in hard weeks. Jo jo ho-ay so-ee sukh maanai — whatever happens, they accept it in peace. Why? Karan karaavanhaar parabh jaanai — they know the One as the Doer behind everything. This acceptance grows out of trust. It is never giving up.
The verse ends with a quiet effect such a person has. Naanak darsan daykh sabh mohee — seeing them, everyone is drawn in. Healed sight is beautiful to see, and it gently draws others along.
If every situation today were quietly addressed to you - a question asked of your character - how would you walk through the day?
