Many millions let the world go, and hold instead to the Name.
Many millions go searching for the One - and find Him inside their own souls.
Many millions thirst just to see Him - and they meet Him, the Everlasting.
Many millions pray for one thing only: the Sangat - and they are soaked in His love. Nanak says: those He is pleased with are blessed, forever blessed.
Millions search for the One, and every search ends in finding.
After the dark count and the unequal count, this verse counts the fortunate. Each pair of lines is a search and a find. Those who let go of the world hold on to the Name. Those who search for the One find Him aatam meh, inside their own souls. This is Sukhmani's shortest way of saying Aap Pachhaan, knowing your own self: the search ends at the searcher. Those who thirst for darshan, a glimpse of the One, meet the Everlasting. Those who pray for the Sangat - people gathered together to remember the One - are soaked in His love.
Four longings, four answers, and no exceptions. In this count, no seeker reports failing forever. It is like a game of hide-and-seek where everyone who truly looks finds what they are looking for.
The millions matter too. Finding is also a crowd. The found are as countless as the lost. And the road from one list to the other is the road this whole song teaches: the Name, searching inside, thirst, and the Sangat.
If everyone who searched eventually found, what would stop you from searching?
