The Pauree overflows with gratitude for the Guru: meeting Him, I came to cherish the One; He gave me the healing ointment of wisdom, and with these eyes I behold the world. The anjan image again — wisdom as a salve that clears your sight so you finally see truly. And the boat: the True Guru is the boat across the deep and dangerous water, though few realize it. The two images fit together — first your eyes are healed so you can see the water and the far shore, then you're carried across it. For a child: good, true guidance does both — it clears your vision and carries you through what you couldn't cross alone.
