The infinite can arrive as a child in an ordinary home — and the truest greatness is measured by how much of other people's pain it carries away.
The Arc
Kall's twelve verses — headed sava-ee-ay mahlay panjvay kay (Savaiye in praise of the Fifth) — turn from Guru Ram Das to his son and successor, Guru Arjun. Verses 1—9 (||1||—||9||) carry the refrain gur arjun ghar gur raamdaas... aa-ya-o (in the House of Ram Das, Arjun appeared); verses 10—12 are two Sorathay couplets and a close (||3||12||). The arc runs from birth and lineage, through Arjun's inner mastery and generosity, to the Name as boat and the soul's final fullness.
