In plain words

The One feeds and cares for every living being, and gives the gifts of rest and clothes to wear.

The One made the jewel of human life, with a clever, wide-awake mind.

By the One's grace, people live in peace and joy.

Nanak says: remembering the One, Har, Har, Haray,

a person is freed from clinging to this passing world.

The One who feeds every creature made your life a rare gift.
The deeper layer

The One feeds every creature and made human life a jewel, and remembering the One sets us free from clinging.

The One feeds and looks after every living being. The One gives rest, peace, and clothes to wear. The One made human life a ratan, a jewel, with a clever, curious mind.

Think of a school lunch that shows up every day. Most days we never ask who made it. The verse wants us to notice the hands behind the gift.

By grace, people live in peace and joy. And remembering the One, simrant naanak har har haray, sets us free. Anit-y rachnaa nirmoh: the world does not last, and remembering loosens our grip on it.

A Question to Sit With

Your mind, your life, your day — if these were rare gifts, how might you treat them differently?
