Says Nanak, I have meditated on the Lord, Infinite and Endless.

dutar ih sansaar satguroo taraa-i-aa.
This world-ocean is so difficult to cross; the True Guru has carried me across.

miti-aa aavaa ga-on jaaN pooraa paa-i-aa.
My comings and goings in reincarnation ended, when I met the Perfect Lord.

harihaaN amrit har kaa naam satgur tay paa-i-aa. ||6||
O Lord! I have obtained the Ambrosial Nectar of the Name of the Lord from the True Guru. ||6||

In plain words

Nanak says: I have remembered the One, endless and without limit.

This world is an ocean too hard to cross, and the True Guru has carried me across.

My coming and going from life to life ended when I found the Perfect One.

O Lord! I received the sweet nectar of the One's Naam from the True Guru.

The True Guru carries you across the water you could not cross alone.
The deeper layer

The True Guru carries you across the ocean you could not cross alone.

Bay-ant bay-ant Dhi-aa-i-aa: remembering the One who has no end. Dutar ih sansaar: this world is hard to cross, like a wide, rough sea. Satguroo taraa-i-aa: the True Guru carries the soul over.

Miti-aa aavaa ga-on: the coming and going from birth to birth is over. Amrit har kaa naam: the Naam of the One is amrit, a nectar sweeter than anything, and it comes from the True Guru.
