In plain words

A lotus is in my hand, and in the courtyard of my heart I live in peace.

O my friend, a jewel hangs at my throat; just seeing it, sorrow goes away.

I live with the Lord of the World, the treasure of every peace.

O Lord! All riches, all powers and the nine treasures rest in the One's hand.

Nearness to the One lifts sorrow the way a jewel catches light.
The deeper layer

Living close to the One brings peace that sends sorrow away.

Mayrai haath padam: a lotus in my hand, an old sign of good fortune. Aagan sukh baasnaa: peace lives in the courtyard of the heart. Kanth ratann: a jewel at the throat. Seeing it, dukh naasnaa, sorrow is gone.

Baasa-o sang gupaal: I live with the Lord of the World. RiDh siDh nav niDh: riches, powers and the nine treasures, every good thing anyone could want, all held in the One's hand.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that, just by looking at it, makes you feel at peace?
