Every good quality, every fruit and every wish of my mind is mine; my hopes have all come true.
The Naam is the medicine, the mantra, the charm that takes away pain and cures every sickness.
Craving, anger, pride, jealousy and endless wanting all disappear by saying the Naam of the One.
The good of holy baths, giving, hard discipline and pure deeds is found by keeping the lotus feet of the One in the heart.
The One is my friend, my best friend, my companion and my family; the One is the food of my soul and the support of my breath.
I have taken the shelter of my all-powerful Master. Nanak, the One's servant, says: I give myself to the One forever.
With the One in the heart every hope is filled, and the One is a friend closer than family.
A-ukhaDh mantar tantar: medicine, mantra and charm. The Naam is all three. Then come the five that steal our peace: kaam (craving), kroDh (anger), mad (pride), matsar (jealousy) and tarisnaa (endless wanting). They fade har naam uchaaree, by saying the Naam of the One.
Charan kamal: the lotus feet, a loving picture of the One kept close in the heart. Saajan meet sakhaa: friend, best friend, companion. Think of the friend you call first with big news. Ot gahee: I have taken shelter.
