Phunhay, Verse 22 — the priceless medicine of the Naam

a-ukhaDh naam apaar amolak peej-ee.
Drink in the medicine of the Incomparable, Priceless Name.
mil mil khaaveh sant sagal ka-o deej-ee.
Meeting and joining together, the Saints drink it in, and give it to everyone.
jisai paraapat ho-ay tisai hee paavnay.
He alone is blessed with it, who is destined to receive it.
harihaaN ha-o balihaaree tinH je har rang raavnay. ||22||
O Lord! I am a sacrifice to those who enjoy the Love of the Lord. ||22||

In plain words

Drink the medicine of the Naam — endless, and beyond any price.

The saints come together, eat it side by side, and give it to everyone.

Only the one whose destiny it is receives it.

O Lord! I give myself to those who enjoy the One's love.

The Naam is a priceless medicine the saints share with everyone.
The deeper layer

The Naam is a medicine with no price, and the saints share it with everyone.

A-ukhaDh naam apaar amolak: the medicine of the Naam is endless and priceless. Mil mil khaaveh sant: the saints meet and eat it together, and sagal ka-o deej-ee, they give it to all.

The third line says it comes to the one whose destiny it is. The last line, with the refrain harihaa(n), honors those who har rang raavnay, who enjoy the love of the One.

A Question to Sit With

What good thing in your life do you most like to share?
