Salok Bhagat Kabir, Salok 22 — the death the world fears

ਕਬੀਰ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਰਨੇ ਤੇ ਜਗੁ ਡਰੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ॥
kabeer jis marnay tay jag darai mayray man aanand.
Kabir, the world is afraid of death - that death fills my mind with bliss.
ਮਰਨੇ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦੁ ॥੨੨॥
marnay hee tay paa-ee-ai pooran parmaanand. ||22||
It is only by death that perfect, supreme bliss is obtained. ||22||

In plain words

Kabir says: the dying that the whole world fears fills my mind with joy.

Only by that dying is perfect, highest joy found.

The dying of the proud self, which the world fears, is the doorway to joy.
The deeper layer

The dying that frightens the world, the dying of the proud self, opens the door to perfect joy.

Jis marnay tay jag darai: the dying the world is afraid of. For Kabir it brings aanand, joy, and pooran parmaanand, the fullest, highest joy. As in his other saloks, this dying is the "dead while alive" kind: the proud, separate self falling quiet while life goes on. What the world dreads becomes a doorway to peace.
