I have taken hold of the all-powerful Guru, to make my mind steady and to fill me with clear understanding.
And the Guru's flag of right living waves forever, to hold back the waves of wrong.
Mathura says: I know this is true, and I say it from my heart. There is nothing else to think about.
In this dark age, the Naam of the One is the great ship that carries us across the wide, frightening ocean of the world.
Holding on to the Guru makes the mind steady and clear.
Mathura says: I took hold of the strong Guru, and my mind became calm and clear. The Guru's flag of right living, Dharam, waves high forever. It holds back the waves of wrong.
Har naam bohith — the Naam is a great ship. It carries everyone across bhav saagar, the wide sea of life with all its storms. Kal, the Kali Yuga, is an old name for a dark, hard age, a time when a strong boat matters most.
