Savaiye in Praise of Guru Ram Das (Bhatt Mathura), Verse 6 — drawn like bees to the flower

naam niDhaan Dhi-aan antargat tayj punj tihu log pargaasay.
He focuses His Meditation deep within; the Embodiment of Light, He illuminates the three worlds.
daykhat daras bhatak bharam bhajat dukh parhar sukh sahj bigaasay.
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, doubt runs away, pain is eradicated, and celestial peace spontaneously wells up.
sayvak sikh sadaa at lubhit al samooh ji-o kusam subaasay.
The selfless servants and Sikhs are always totally captivated by it, like bumble bees lured by the fragrance of the flower.

The Guru Himself established the Eternal Throne of Truth, in Guru Raam Daas. ||6||

In plain words

Deep inside, the Guru keeps the treasure of the Naam in meditation. The Guru is a mass of light that lights up the three worlds.

Seeing the Guru, wandering doubt runs away, pain is gone, and an easy peace opens like a flower.

The Guru's servants and Sikhs are always drawn close, like a swarm of bumblebees to a sweet-smelling flower.

The Guru, here and present, set up the lasting throne of truth in Guru Ram Das.

The Guru draws people close, like a flower draws bees.
The deeper layer

People are drawn to the Guru the way bees are drawn to a sweet-smelling flower.

The Guru holds the treasure of the Naam deep inside. From that stillness, a light shines out that fills three worlds. Come near, and doubt runs off. Pain drops away. And sahj, an easy, natural peace, rises up on its own.

Al samooh ji-o kusam subaasay — like a swarm of bees to a sweet-smelling flower. No one has to push the bees. The smell pulls them in. Students and seekers are pulled to the Guru the same way.

The verse ends by saying the Guru set up a takhat, a throne of truth, in Guru Ram Das. For Sikhs, the light of the Guru is one light. It settles in each Guru in turn, like one flame passed from candle to candle.
