Savaiye in Praise of Guru Ram Das (Bhatt Keerat), Verse 3 — a story too vast for one tongue

Guru Nanak came to know the spotless Naam. He loved the One, with his mind tuned in love.
From him came Guru Angad, one with him limb to limb, an ocean, who laid the foundation of the mind fixed on the Word.
The story of Guru Amar Das cannot be told. With only one tongue, nothing of it can be said.
Now Guru Ram Das of the Sodhi family has been given the greatness to carry the whole world across.
The story of the Gurus is too big for one tongue to tell, and now its greatness rests on Guru Ram Das.
Keerat walks through the Gurus one by one. Guru Nanak knew the pure Naam and gave himself to loving the One. Guru Angad was one with him, deep as an ocean. He built his mind on the Word.
Then comes Guru Amar Das. Akath kathaa means a story that can never be fully told. Ik jeeh kachh kahee na jaa-ee — one tongue cannot say it.
Now the greatness has come to Guru Ram Das. Sodhee is the name of his family, so this light lived in a real family. His task is to carry the whole world across, like a boat that takes everyone to the far shore.
Think of trying to describe the ocean to a friend. Your words run out long before the water does.
